When I took the bar exam in 2015, I did so without any plans for my future legal career. I worked as a paralegal the first year and am now currently in my second year of a two-year position at the University of Maine System, where I work as Assistant General Counsel. My experiences in both law school and since have focused primarily on transactional practice of law, primarily as in-house or pseudo-in-house counsel. I have enjoyed learning and practicing as in-house counsel thus far, but I would consider it a mistake to not interact with other attorneys in my community and learn more about firm practice. Ideally, I would like to explore what it is like to practice Intellectual Property law in Maine, as it is my current favorite practice area. I am looking to connect with other attorneys who would be willing and able to mentor me on firm practice in Maine, networking with other attorneys and potential clients, and any other aspect of legal practice where I may be missing the bigger context.
